memory lane

Like anything that gets uber popular, the Isabel Marant 'Renell' jeans spawned its fair share of copy cats and DIY ideas. I saw everything from iron ons to puffy paint. Crafty has never been part of my vocabulary. So not surprisingly, the perfect pair of dupes were bound to emerge. I am not a fan of knock-offs but I couldn't help myself this time. The actual embroidered aztec print sucked me in. I love pairing the wanna be designer pants with black and gray. Now if only I had a pair of cream, fringe, knee-high boots I'd be golden.

Life's little pleasures- like being able to drive through a giant donut and purchase your favorite frosted, deep-fried treat. Glaze, sugar, sprinkles- I love them all! It's moments like these that make me proud to be an American. In other news, it has been an exciting past two days with the arrival of rain and below 70 degree weather. But I knew better than to get excited because we're back to high 80's and the continuation of 500 days of bummer. What isn't a bummer are (p)leather skater skirts. I plan to wear mine incessantly. Here I wore it with a crop because of the aforementioned heat but will definitely be rocking the skirt sweater combo when weather permits. Until then, viva la crop top!

Another glorious and beautiful southern California weekend has passed yet again. Although I'm itching to whip out my black tights and sorely neglected jacket collection just like the next girl, I say milk this Indian summer for all it's worth! This weekend I had the pleasure of gettin'-my-tan-on, cooking for pleasure, and visiting some friends in LA where I had my first cocktail containing egg whites. Trust me, I was confused too. What I am not confused about is my excitement for the month of October! Halloween and pumpkin flavored everything.

span style="font-size: large;">There are no two words more beautiful to my ears than "sample sale." Ah yes, the life of a bargain hunter. It's definitely the Filipino in me. Last week I went to a sample sale called Connected Festival in downtown LA in the not at all uncomfortable 103 degree weather. Aside from needing a cold shower, it was a great way to spend some guilt free cash. The main tent I wanted to attack was UNIF. Not surprisingly, everyone else had the same idea. I felt like I was waiting in line for a new ride at Disneyland on the fourth of July and admission was free. It was long. Ok, I'm being a little dramatic. I unfortunately did not snag the booty bearing leather shorts I so desperately wanted but I did score a few things including this crochet number. Uncomfortable weather approved.

I had an amazing time this past weekend gallivanting around Las Vegas with my best friends and boyfriend. I bought this skirt for the occasion because I thought it was desert-weather friendly as well as my kind of sexy- completely covered with scandalous cut outs of course! The slits and length definitely provided for optimum booty shaking. Alas, back to reality.

golden hour

I have been eying this dress ever since I saw the shirt version in peach. I'm a huge believer of midriff so the built in peekaboo action is right up my alley. Bonus is it's a welcomed garment during this incessant heat wave- holy cow. At least it's preserving my Costa Rica tan nicely. Can't complain about the magical sunsets either.

fairly amused

I recently spent a fun filled day at the fair with my boyfriend indulging in anything and everything that is bad for you. Once you eat a deep fried snickers there's no going back. Some of the new, cardiac arrest inducing treats included bacon nutella pizza and fried cereal. Ten points for creativity. I am definitely a kid at heart so the rides, bright lights, and bags of cotton candy still make me smile. Now, if only I could frolic through a water fountain without the inevitable weird looks I'd be set.

manuel antonio

The great thing about traveling with just a backpack is not having to lug around a giant, heavy suitcase especially when darting from city to city by bus. The downside is when you lose/break an article of clothing it is a great loss. Unfortunately for me I broke my favorite One Teaspoon bathing suit top during a hike. Hallelujah for backups! And how can a girl be mad when this is your backdrop. As is apparent by the giant, stupid grin on my face- Manuel Antonio was an amazing stop on my trip. Beautiful beaches, great company, and addicting $2 fruit smoothies. Pura vida indeed.
