sugar and spice

The things I love the most: sugar and shoes. I have a very major sweet tooth that always gets me in trouble. This day turned into an accidental food crawl. Started at Milk with an ice cream sandwich that left me with a stomach ache. Why don't I know when to stop? After a spicy Thai dinner, ended the day with sticky rice and mango. Oh. Hell. Yes. Very happy my amiga showed me this Thai dessert spot. Also very happy with this luxurious kimono from Arnhem. Kimonos are the perfect outwear for the transition from day to night. During hot LA days all you need is a little somethin' somethin.'

A couple months back, my boyfriend and I were asked to be a part of a wedding inspiration shoot by our lovely friend Laura Izumikawa. If you follow my Instagram you might have caught a little sneak peak of me looking very bridal. Laura along with Caroline, the amazing set designer, came up with a swoon worthy shoot inspired by Wes Anderson's "Moonrise Kingdom" meets Kinfolk Magazine. I even got to get glammed up by the lovely ladies from e2beauty. I wish someone would do my makeup every day. Once again, I digress. So the shoot took place up in the mountains and let me just say, I was sold. Good golly. The venue was so beautiful! I never pictured myself as a mountain gal but where do I sign up? Every single detail blew my mind from the amazing dessert display, to the alter decor, to the Moonrise Kingdom inspired props. Epic dinner party or what? And where does one even get a stack of old letters like that!? That's why they pay them the big bucks. The pictures came out beautifully I almost don't believe that's us in them. You can see the wonderful features on Green Wedding Shoes in two parts. Such a great experience and in awe of how talented people are!

My favorite kind of days are the ones that don't really have a plan other than I'm hungry and I want to be outside. So give the girl what she wants, I say! Lucky for me, the weather couldn't have been more perfect, nor the food any tastier. That's what I really love about LA. There pretty much is something to do for whatever mood you may be in. The sunshine and palm trees also help. We'll avoid the topic of traffic for now.

Now this is what summer days are supposed to be like! Last week I trekked Malibu Creek State Park with some buds to this awesome watering hole. We attempted a "short-cut" that ended up being anything but short. My friend even got poison oak from it. Uh oh. I'm really surprised I wasn't the one with the misfortune considering my middle name is Bad Luck. Anyhoo, it was an ideal way to spend a summer afternoon sipping wine out of the bottle and jumping off rocks like a bunch of crazy people. My jump wasn't exactly volunteered but I'm glad I was taunted into doing it. Nobody likes being the wimp after all.
