a long way from home

Hello from Hong Kong! I've been nonstop for the past week so it's nice to take a little break. It seems like everyone around me is getting sick so I'm knocking on every piece of wood I see that I do not succumb to that fate. Other than dodging illness, my trip has been amazing so far. And best part is there is still a lot more to go! Hong Kong has exceeded my expectations. Definitely very far from my usual desert adventures. I can not wait to share all my photos but until then you can follow me on my Instagram. I also have a rad giveaway running until next Friday. It's a dress that you NEED.

This week has been filled with a lot of prep because...*drum roll please*...this chick is heading to the Philippines and Hong Kong! I still haven't wrapped my head around the fact that I will be on the other side of the world tomorrow. For some reason this trip isn't setting in for me. I think it has to due with the fact that I didn't have a hand in planning any of it so I'm not exactly sure what I am in for. What I do know is that I am excited to get out of the country. I haven't been anywhere international in two years and I haven't been back to the motherland since I was the tender age of eight. I'm excited to see it through much older and appreciative eyes. I think traveling is so important and something most of us don't have the luxury of experiencing. I was lucky to have parents who love to travel so growing up I got to see a good amount of places. As I get older making the time to do it can be difficult because of money, time, LIFE getting in the way. But my checklist of places to see is still quite long so cheers to checking off a couple boxes. So if you would like to follow my little Asia getaway peep me on Instagram. Hashtag EXCITEMENT.

So is it safe to say winter is over? My wardrobe is definitely reflecting quite the Resort 2015 vibe. I even bought sandals the other day...sandals people! I think this may be due to the fact that I am going on a trip next week where the majority of the days will not require warm clothing. The Coachella line-up was also released so you know that shit has people up in a desert dreaming frenzy. But let's be real, I'm sitting here typing with fuzzy socks and a giant flannel on...and baking cookies. Luxury. Can't wait to tell all you beautiful people more about my trip. Stay tuned!

Last weekend my boyfriend and I took a spontaneous trip to Joshua Tree. It's one of those gems that isn't too far away, yet, I've never been to before. I'm almost mad at myself for only just now going there. It was even more picturesque and beautiful as I imagined. The weather was cool and crisp which I found to be ideal. We left just as the sun was setting and painting the sky pink. Ended the day with dinner in Pioneer Town. I will say though, driving through windy dark roads in pitch black gives me a case of the butterflies, but the burger and fries were totally worth it. We also may or may not have stopped for donuts on the way home too. Best. Day. Ever. Very inspired to take more daycations like this in the future! Food for the soul.
