from rags to riches

If you live in LA you probably have heard of Projection LA...unless you live under a giant, sound proof rock. In a nutshell, there has been a major eyesore in the neighborhood of Silverlake that was turned into an art piece by an artist named Vincent Lamouroux. When I first moved to Silverlake I always stared at the dilapidated motel and thought- ew. The motel has a lot of history that goes along with it- both good and lots of bad. But before they tear it down to make way for luxury apartment buildings, it took one final bow and went out in style.

This project was a great reminder to me why I love living here. A constant flow of energy and creating is what I need to feed my own creative juices and push my motivation to get off the couch. So cheers to all of life's surprises. Keep people guessing I say!

Spent a cold day in May shooting some fun images for Patrons of Peace with my lady friend behind the lens Silke. We were channeling a bit of That 70's Show/Lords of Dogtown. I was not around for the 70's but it is definitely my favorite decade. I did have a push-pop which was some nostalgia I could personally relate to.

I have some super fun projects that I am working on this week. One includes a video for Refinery29. I definitely am not used to this form of media. I have dabbled a bit in the past but I can say with confidence I feel out of my element on camera. I have to give myself some pep talks before and trying to keep the butterflies in my stomach under control can be overwhelming. I feel like I have a lot of personality that I hope won't be stifled by my nerves. So wish me luck loves. Excited to share the final results!

May is here and it's coming in with a vengeance. After a whirlwind of  a month filled with more birthdays than I can count, two weekends of Coachella, and MOVING...the dust is settling and a new 31 days is here to tackle. I have spurts of being constantly on-the-go where I never think twice about it. But then the days come where my tank feels a bit empty. I like to call myself a social introvert. (Google it if you aren't familiar!) Sometimes I require downtime alone to fill that tank back up. This may or may not include binge watching Game of Thrones and finally finishing Scandal on Netflix.

Trying to not let any opportunities pass me by, while also keeping my day to day obligations fulfilled, can sometimes be hard. But with all that said, life right now is pretty fun. I don't know exactly when it happened but I'm happy to report that I managed to score a newfound energy. Falling into a rut is easy. Avoiding it- challenging. So I'd be a fool not to take advantage of how I'm feeling right now. Time to take chances, step out of my comfort zone, and push harder than I was before. I'll sleep when I'm dead. That's the rule right?
