Urban Outfitters Summer 2016

posted on: Monday, July 25, 2016

Seasonal trends come and go but some stick and make their way with you as the temps change. A couple of my favorite trends this summer have been cropped jeans + bomber jackets. Literally cannot get enough.

What's not to love? Cropped, high waist jeans make your legs look a mile long and bomber jackets are functional, practical, and FUN. Perfect to throw over your shoulders when the temps drop at night. My collection is growing very strong and I don't plan to stop any time soon! Staples, staples, staples!

Although they stole my heart this summer, I don't plan on ditching them once fall hits. Transitioning them is so easy and means minor tweaks including switching from sandals to boots and tanks to tees.

I have to point out that these are by far one of my favorite cuts of denim right now. They are the UO BDG Girlfriend High-Rise Jean in black. Finding the right fit for me is a struggle sometimes so when I do find one that hugs all the right places, you better believe I buy them in multiple washes. That may break some sort of fashion rule but we make our own rules here!!

My secret is out so let me know what your denim secret is in the comments below! Badass jeans #5ever.

Lust List: High Waist Bikinis

posted on: Tuesday, July 5, 2016

This month I have a lot of fun travel plans that include wearing bikinis x million. I love soaking up the sun near any body of water but I don't consider myself much of a bikini babe. I have never felt entirely comfortable in them. Cue my not-so-secret, secret weapon: The high waist bikini!

Now don't get me wrong, I am no modest mouse, but there is something about covering my belly button that puts me at ease.

Thankfully, this style now comes with tons of amazing options. Gone are the days where high waist bikini's meant feeling matronly or not very sexy. Below is my current lust list of suits that will make you feel cute and more importantly, confident!

Meet you on the beach, babes!

Matisse Footwear: Caty Boot

I loved these boots so much that welp, needed them in another color! The Caty Boot unknowingly became my boot of the season.  I wore the black version pouncing around the Polo Fields every day of Coachella. I was worried the ankle part would being irritating AF but thankfully my ankles were spared.

I don't veer away from my little black boots often, because frankly I'm intimidated. Much like white pants, white shoes give me pause. For me, I find wearing these boots with shorts help in not making my legs look short- the ultimate goal.

Also plan on pairing them with blush pink and black slip dresses. And chokers. Duh. May need them in another color...just kidding...or am I?

Never Fully Dressed: Camel Duster

Ok, this coat. Let's talk about it. It's great! The end.

Just kidding. But really, to call it my go-to would be the understatement of the century. For me, living in LA doesn't necessitate heavy outerwear but it does get chilly. Cue this amazing duster from Never Fully Dressed.

A piece like this can take an ordinary outfit to the next level. Long layers scream CHIC. If you ever want to add some drama to your look try a duster like this or even a mid-length vest. Added drama points when you walk and appear to be dawning a cape.

I love the entire vibe of Never Fully Dressed so definitely give them look!

Puerto Vallarta: Modeliste Magazine x Shot by G

I can't believe my trip to Mexico with Modeliste Magazine was already a month ago! These are one half of the photos I shot for the mag on the mean streets of Puerto Vallarta. Such a beautiful city with beyond incredible sights and friendly people. I couldn't say thank you enough to everyone and their hospitality.

Now that the fog has settled, and the dust is cleared, I can now share how absolutely chaotic April was for me! I had tons of highs and some pretty low lows. I definitely work on myself every single day to improve parts of my personality I don't particularly like. One being handling stress and disappointment. My biggest inspirations in that department are my parents. Whenever I need a reality check or comfort I usually turn to them because they've lived through it all. They provide me with a better outlook on things aka that everything will be OK. They are so tough and never let a misstep deter their life or bring them down. Sometimes I wonder how I am their child?! haha

But bottom line is that life is beautiful and I am grateful for so many things. I am looking forward to the next several months where I hope to be traveling my face off. I'm excited to see more new places and fill up more pages in my passport.

And as Drake would say-
All summer sixteen

Puerto Vallarta: Modeliste Magazine

A couple weeks ago I ventured south of the border with my babes Racquel Natasha, Jessi Malay, and Modiste Magazine. We spent four days at the amazing Villa Premiere Boutique Hotel in Puerto Vallarta. Picturesque doesn't even begin to describe it.

From the moment I arrived it was top notch service. I was greeted with a glass of champagne and then proceeded to pick out what type of pillow I wanted plus the fragrance for my room. To make matters even more grand I indulged in a welcome back massage...I MEAN.

Some of you may have caught my room tour on Snapchat (username: LILBLACKBOOTS!) which was filled with pure joy. Everything from the chilled bottle of champagne waiting for me to    balcony and beach front views was everything. Every night I came back to more chocolate and drinks for two. Which brings me to the hilarious point that I constantly felt like I was on a romantic getaway but unfortunately was...alone. Haha. The first night I came back to a bubble bath covered in rose petals. YOU GUYS. Where's my boyfriend when I needed him?! But don't worry, I slipped into that bath and had a romantic night watching the O.J. show.

I think my favorite part of the trip would have to be the dinner on the beach at La Palapa. Literally the most delicious meal I've had in a while. Let's just say every plate was cleared.

Without skipping a beat we all hopped on a plane back to California to jump straight into Coachella. Needless to say it was an intense week. Stay tuned for my Coachella recap coming real soon including details about all the outfits I wore that weekend!

c'est la vie: Visit with Dr. Yana Recap

C'est la vie! We can't always get what we want- such is life. For me, straight teeth was definitely one of those things. Until now! I finally decided the take the steps toward a smile that I could be proud of.

Two months ago I paid a visit to Dr. Yana at her crazy beautiful office because after years of debating I finally decided to get...Invisalign! When I was younger I had braces but was a naughty child and never wore my retainer. Biggest. Regret. Ever! Basically my teeth ended up acting like rebellious teenagers that all went and did their own thing aka crooked. Even though I like pouty pictures (my inner Posh Spice) I prefer laughing and smiling throughout most of my day. I feel SO fortunate to have Dr. Yana as my Invisalign dentist because she is absolutely the best in the biz!

As of now I have had Invisalign for 5 weeks. My initial reaction to wearing the trays was that it did feel a little bulky in my mouth. I also noticed that when I spoke I had a slight lisp. As expected, the bulkiness in my mouth as well as my lisp quickly went away. The first week is all about adjusting. You now wear a retainer for an optimal 22+ hours a day. Don't be worried if you stumble in the beginning when taking them on and off. You will have plenty of practice and will be pro in no time. In the beginning I needed a mirror to put them on. Now, pssshh I can pop them in any time any place!

As far as any pain, for me personally I have had very little. The most I've experienced was during the first two trays. But again, very minor. The biggest adjustment has been eating. In particular- snacking! Snacking just doesn't really exist when you have Invisalign. A blessing in disguise! You start having the mentality that if you have to take out your trays it better be damn worth it! I've definitely found myself on more of a meal schedule which I personally love.

For the next few months I will be chronicling my Invisalign journey- the good, bad, and ugly! I'll touch more on any personal success and difficulties I encounter, lifestyle changes, and the changes I see in my smile! Next up will be an office tour of the previously mentioned BEAUTIFUL office of Dr. Yana.

I am so excited about taking the steps to a great smile. If you have a similar story to me or simply have questions concerning Invisalign or Dr. Yana's Practice please feel free to reach out or leave a comment below.

Keep smiling babes!
