A Lace & Whiskey Courtship

I've never identified with the label of being a "creative type" for many reasons. The main probably being that I didn't equate having an interest in fashion as qualifying to do so. Recently I've revisited the term and realized that being creative is such a general label that can literally relate to everything from fashion to art to music to hair, makeup, interior design- the list goes on and on!

Growing up I had very little interest in sports or art. I got good grades, socialized, and kept my head down for the most part. Now as a full blown adult I can't help but take pause towards what I do for work. And yes, it's creative! 

I think this self-reflection came about because I've fallen into little ruts of feeling uninspired lately. In order to combat these unwelcome feelings, I'm making it a point to focus on the things that really make me happy. I've already made changes in my life to help me do so and I couldn't be more excited about the rest of the year. Speaking of exciting, I can't get enough of this amazing dress by Lace & Whiskey. Sometimes all you need to do is throw on one of your go-to pieces and all your favorite accessories to feel zen again.

Hello friends! Since we last spoke, I was talking about heading out to the desert but avoiding the actual Coachella festival. Well...so...um...things happened. The first weekend I drove out to Palm Springs to partake in my planned Coachi party socializing. But then...oh but then...one of my good friends presented an offer I couldn't refuse. And as you may have guessed by now, me and my crop tops made our way onto the Polo Fields weekend dos. 

I'm happy to report that I had an amazing time. My favorite trips, or anything for that matter, are the ones with the least planning and a dash of spontaneity. No pressure and no expectations is a recipe for fun. My feet still hurt from dancing the night away but twas all totally worth it.

Greetings from the Philippines! It is currently almost 1am and I am asking myself how am I still up?  Unlike my vampire-like ways back in LA, here I have been sleeping well before 10pm every night. WHO AM I? As imagined, I have been eating like a maniac every meal. Filipinos really know how to feed a gal. To the point where being wheelbarrowed out of places seems not only convenient, but necessary. 

Other than the amazing amount of food (do not forget the mangos!), I've been lucky to see so many beautiful places this country has to offer. A far cry from my first visit as a kid who did not appreciate anything. I'll be heading home to LA in a couple of days so these photos are fitting. This trip has wonderfully satisfied my wanderlust for now, but I also am excited to get back home. Now I just need to figure out how I am going to pack all these souvenirs. See you back in California friends!

Oh life. Ain't it one crazy trip? This is the portion of the program where I serve up a little life update realness! My current state is feeling a tad overwhelmed. Between working full-time, blogging full-time, being in a relationship, and trying to keep friendships afloat- I'm starting to wonder how does one fit it all in? I don't consider myself a total introvert, but I definitely require alone time to recharge my batteries. I'm so grateful for the opportunities that come my way because of the crazy fact that people seem to enjoy the way I dress. My take-away from all of this is that I need to really step it up and manage my time better. I have such a mellow approach to most things in life and am quickly realizing that this sort of stoner mentality just isn't going to fly. 2014 is more than halfway out the door so I plan to make the rest of the year completely worth my while. Relationships and work life- I'm coming for ya!

I've been really into florals lately. Florals during summer- shocking. These days I'm either in a dress or bell bottoms. Really doing my part to perpetuate that Southern California stereotype. I follow a lot of New York bloggers a couple of girls in Europe. I see their more polished and monochromatic outfits and I think to myself, YES, I want to be that. But guess what? I turn right around and throw that boho for days outfit on. Can't teach a dog new tricks indeed.
