mad for plaid

I don't wear jeans very often ever. OK, that's a bit dramatic but it's pretty rare. However, I just couldn't resist this pair. I mean, they're called 'Awesome Baggies' for goodness sakes. I used to live in jeans like the rest of the population but I've kicked that habit for a good amount of years now. If you were to dissect the situation you would probably uncover the issue of having a smaller waist, bigger hips, and calves that just won't quit. So finding a pair that fits well is a mission impossible. Plus, stretchy pants and maxis feel so niiice. This is definitely not a self-loathing moment; rather, my declaration to play up  your strengths and forget about those pesky areas you may not be so thrilled with. Cause girl, you look GOOD.

I have been dying for a pair of Novella Royale pants for as long as I can remember but my wallet and the lack of money in it always prevents this union from happening. But thankfully I have found these suitable replacements to tide me over in the meantime. Paired them with this great top from my awesome new discovery Eternal Sunshine Creations. Lots of crochet dreaminess going on over there. Soon after taking these pictures and checking out a photo exhibit, we ate a ton of Indian food where the convenience of stretchy pants was not lost on me. How good is naan?!

Shot these pictures yesterday in the glorious 72 degree weather where a tank top in the dead of fall was still completely appropriate. But fast forward to today where it has been windy, raining, and c-o-l-d. There has been an outpour of happiness on my Instagram feed from girls embracing the long awaited temperature drop. And although I too enjoy a cozy blanket and wearing fuzzy socks, I'm surprised at my fall backlash!? Layering is great - but sunshine is much, much greater. In other news, my wonderful boyfriend/photographer just returned from Seattle. Happy to have him back and resume taking Instagram pics galore, but I'm fully convinced he brought the clouds back with him. That little devil.

If you haven't checked out my Shop My Closet site, you should definitely do so! I just added tons of new goodies at prices that are better than any sample sale you could painfully wait in line for.

last minute halloween costumes

Made a fun little video with the lovely lads from Sugar and Fluff. If you're like me, you start thinking of a costume the day of any event you want to go to. Go figure. Halloween is only a couple days away, but these super easy costumes are perfect for the procrastinator in all of us. Just requires a quick trip to your local Goodwill and maybe some rummaging in your own closet. Not going to lie, pretending like I was Miley was pretty damn fun. And I think the double tiny baby bun look might just be my new thing. Miley look out!

A few years ago I saw a photo of a friend standing in front of a giant 'Californian' sign. To my surprise, I accidentally came across the oversized delight the other day. Talk about a necessary photo-op! Speaking of oversized delights, I am so happy with the newest addition to my coat collection. I am such a sucker for a fur collar and aztec print so it comes as no surprise that I had to have this beauty. Besides obsessing over shoes, jackets are definitely my other achilles heel.

Thank you again to Bianca over at Sally Hershberger! My hair color has never been the same since you. So fresh and so clean, clean.

I hate having a lot of stuff. I should clarify, I hate having a lot of stuff I don't use! It drives me absolutely crazy. So when the weather starts to change I try to find ways to make seemingly strictly summertime attire fall ready and oh-so-chic. I love the pale hue of this Gypsy Warrior dress and thought it would look amazing with some cream lace underneath it. Bada-bing-bada boom - ready for fall baby! Layering underneath summertime dresses is suddenly my new favorite thing.

Hope everyone has a great weekend! We probably should start looking for Halloween costumes now, huh?
