Last week I went to New York where the weather is less than warm. So I shot this outfit right when I got home and relished in being able to run around at night in a muscle tee. Speaking of New York - it was awesome! Unfortunately my sleep schedule was all out of wack. Being jet-lagged coupled with bars closing at 4 am is a recipe for disaster. But I did get to eat a lot of amazing food and see even more amazing friends. Can't wait to share photos from my trip. nightcaps and long naps

There are morning people and there are night people. I am the latter. I've always been somewhat of a vampire/ night owl/ lady of the night. For whatever reason, I just love staying up late and find it hard to fall asleep at sensible hours. I think I inherited the habit from my mother. This should not be confused with staying up late partying, drinking, and being the social belle of the ball (wine at home doesn't count). Sometimes I long to be those people that can fall asleep at 9 or 10 o'clock without fail. The idea of me doing that is comical. It's a small victory for me to be in bed by midnight. Pretty twisted right? This is all a very roundabout way of saying I'm pretty tired, man. This week has not involved a whole lot of sleep. I am SO pumped to fall asleep tonight and wake up whenever I please. Maybe I'll even get a donut after.

Oh buddy I love this top. I've been wanting the Stone Cold Fox holy tube top forever so this temporarily satisfies my appetite. Temporarily is the key word here. Last week was pretty hectic for me. I slept in like crazy yesterday and fully embraced the lazy Sunday concept. The rain definitely doesn't help motivate a chick either. But movies and wine sure do. 

I'm also a part of a pretty damn amazing contest being held by Dahlia Wolf and Fashiolista. A blogger battle to be exact. The grand prize is a trip to LA. I'm already here soooo that's not so enticing, but if you are not a SoCal resident you should enter! We could totally hang out and stuff :) Rules and more details here!

night vision

This past Wednesday was my birthday which means birthday week just ended today. As I sit here typing I am quite le tired. I'm not a big birthday person but when people want to celebrate another year of you living - you can't say no. On my actual birthday I was treated to lots of cupcakes, streamers, and pizza at work. At night my sweet boyfriend and friends planned a surprise dinner for me at the restaurant where they film the bar scenes for New Girl. I die. Then last night we danced the night away like the biggest bunch of dorks you'd ever seen. Between me and three of my best friends, our birthdays are all within about three weeks of each other. Hence, birthday season. I am happy to pass my birthday crown and Hello Kitty sash on to the next gal. Cheers to another year!

the blue stuff

Ain't life grand? Well not always, but this dress sure is. The royal blue has got me reaching far out of my comfort zone with the beyond bold color and deep, DEEP neckline. But don't get used to this sort of thing -- black, white, gray I miss you and will be back soon! Hope everyone had a great weekend. Last night I was lucky enough to go to Vanessa Mooney's house for a get together thrown by her and the lovelies of For Love & Lemons. Lots of wine and girl talk which is always fun. And I wish everyone could see her insanely amazing house. Beyond words how perfectly decorated it is. And an entire room dedicated as your closet? I mean...

cautiously optimistic

Time has been absolutely flying by. I can't believe we are already well into February. I usually feel pretty neutral when it comes to a new year starting, but this year is different for me. A few things have changed but so much more change is on the horizon. I guess you could say that I feel like I've turned a corner. This year will involve a lot of growing up. Peter Pan syndrome is a real thing. No more hiding in my comfort zone. I want to make this year a successful one in all facets of my life. I sense this same sentiment in many people around me so it's encouraging to know I'm not alone. Isolation is also a real thing. So if you're having a coming of Jesus moment like myself, I'm excited for you and I to make this year our bitch!
